Alexander the Great Summary 16 - 861 Words

Alexander the Great Alexander the Great was the king of Macedonia, conqueror of the Persian Empire, and one of the greatest military geniuses of all times. Even at an early age, Alexander had the promise to become a great leader. Through all his victories and conquests, he has become a great hero and has had a large impact on history. That is why I chose he book Alexander the Great, by J.R. Hamilton for my review. Hamilton does a very good job with the story of Alexander the Great. The book begins by talking about the Macedonian homeland and the make up of the people, their culture. He left his empire, in his own words, to the strongest; this uncertain testament resulted in huge conflicts for half a century. Hamilton believes that this could have possible been Alexanders greatest mist ake, because his empire then falls apart. Though all of his conquest Hamilton talks about how well, if not planned that the Hellenistic culture was spread. Alexander was one of the greatest generals of all time, which was why I was interested in this book in the first place. I really enjoyed reading this book because it used great detail and talked about other important things in Alexanders life then what everyone knows him for. Hamilton reaches the reader by using such great description, and you actually can visualize what you are reading. You think you can see what the people look like or even see the battlefield. Hamilton also does a good job of breaking down each section so that everything isnt just thrown into a huge mess. However, sometimes in the book I found somethings and words hard to understand and Hamilton also got confusing once in awhile. Overall I really liked the book and it has increased my interest in the history of Grrk and RomanShow MoreRelatedEssay on Informati ve Speech1080 Words   |  5 PagesSeven Medieval wonders of the world are structural representations of the cultures that built them.
